Welcome to the St John's Therapy Team

St John’s is a team of therapists, enabling us to work with adults, young people and couples, across a wide range of skills and specialisms.  Scroll down to find out more about us as individual therapists, and if you’d like to work with a particular person, please let us know when you get in touch about an appointment. It may not always be possible to meet your preference due to therapist availability, but we’ll always do our best to match you with a therapist that suits you.

All our therapists are members of a professional body, eg BACP, NCPS, UKCP or BABCP, so whoever you work with, you can be assured that they have a recognised  therapy qualification and will make sure that you and your needs are at the heart of the work you do together.

We also have a team of trainee therapists in our Low Cost Service.  Their profiles can be found on our sister site – Atlas Counselling & Support CIC – and they can be booked either through St John’s or Atlas.

All our therapists are members of a professional body, eg BACP, NCPS, UKCP or BABCP

Not sure who to work with? That’s fine, we can allocate a therapist based on the information you give us.  And if after meeting you decide they’re not a good fit for you, we can look again at who might suit you better.

Judith Harris

Practice Manager and Integrative Therapist - Adults and Couples

Hi!  I’m Judith and I work with curious individuals to explore and resolve their challenges.  I help explore and untangle the threads of your life, so you can better understand yourself, your relationships, and your decisions.

I also work with couples who are having some sort of difficulty, whether that’s something between you, or looking at how you can deal with the challenges of life together.

As one of the Practice Managers, I deal with enquiries for qualified therapists and our trainee colleagues in the Low Cost Service, so if you get in touch, it might be me who replies to you!

I’m available for counselling sessions at various days and evenings throughout the week.

Dave Latham

Practice Manager and Integrative Therapist - Adults, Young People and Couples

Dave Latham is a highly experienced registered NCPS Counsellor with over 12 years of dedicated service, specializing in providing support to both adults and young people. His extensive training and expertise span several critical areas:

  • Schools and Children: Dave works with children, including those with Special Educational Needs, and their families, addressing challenges such as ADHD and Autism.
  • Pre/Post-Bereavement Support: He offers compassionate support for individuals and families navigating the difficult process of bereavement, including children aged 8 years and above.
  • MND (Motor Neurone Disease) Support: Dave assists families affected by MND, providing care and support to both patients and their family members.

Additionally, Dave now offers Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based psychotherapy. ACT focuses on enhancing “psychological flexibility,” helping clients accept what they cannot control while committing to actions that improve their lives and moods. This therapy can be tailored as either short-term or long-term, depending on individual needs.

Beyond his counseling credentials, Dave is trained in Health and Social Care and is a SAIF Bereavement Care Associate Counsellor. His experience includes addressing relationship and family support issues, addictions (including gambling), child protection issues, cancer-related illnesses, and supporting single or separated fathers.

Dave offers flexible availability, including various days and evenings throughout the week, and Saturdays, ensuring that support is accessible when you need it most.

Byneta Robinson

Therapist - Adults and Young People

As a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, I provide a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore and express yourself freely. Together, we journey through your past and present, giving voice to feelings, thoughts, and emotions that may have gone unheard. My approach, rooted in empathy and understanding, forms the foundation of a genuine Therapeutic Relationship—helping you move toward healing and self-discovery at your own pace.

By working together, my goal is to gain a deeper understanding of you as an individual and the challenges you’re navigating. We’ll explore the underlying reasons behind your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, helping you uncover patterns and providing you with the tools to move forward with greater self-awareness and empowerment.

While many of us may experience similar mental health challenges, traumas, or losses, how we process and cope with these experiences is entirely unique. Our journey together honours this individuality, creating a space where your personal experiences and emotions are truly heard and understood.

At Just B Counselling, I create a space where people can feel heard, understood, and supported. Life can be tough, and I’m here to help you navigate things like anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship issues, or recovery from narcissistic abuse. My focus is on really getting to know you, so I can offer guidance that fits your unique situation.

Kate Firkins

Therapist - Adults

It doesn’t matter if we call them unhealthy, toxic, abusive, dysfunctional or hostile relationships, they all amount to similar outcomes.

You end up feeling disrespected, unappreciated or undermined. You might have noticed that your partner or other people around you often ridicule or criticise you which over time, makes you feel emotionally drained. It might feel as if you keep “rubbing each other up the wrong way,”

You might have noticed poor eating or sleeping patterns creeping into your life, you might be feeling anxious or alone even when you are with people because you don’t know how to put these feelings into words.

Let me assure you, you are not alone.

Even when you know something is wrong or unhealthy, it’s hard to change; it’s always easier to keep doing what you’ve always done than to apply new skills. But counselling can help you to break these destructive behavioural patterns. I can help you to see where these familiar patterns may have stemmed from and help you to identify what type of relationship you want for your future.

I can’t take your past experiences away from you, but I can help you to feel a sense of satisfaction with your life and confidence that you can communicate your needs to those around you.

Life can be difficult and overwhelming.

I provide a safe space to think and process. Somewhere to begin to take more

control and make choices.

It’s a non-judgemental place where anything can be said.

I became a counsellor because I needed that non-judgemental, empathic space to process my stuff. To talk to someone not directly involved in my life.

I am a qualified mental health counsellor.

My approach as a counsellor reflects

what helped me as a client. I will try to understand your experience as you

experience it. Together we can illuminate your challenges and problems so that

you can understand them better and decide how you want to deal with them.

I work with people on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression,

relationships, ASD and ADHD. I work with adults and young people aged 16+.

I offer sessions face-to-face, by phone, online or a mix of all three. Whatever works best for you.

When you’re ready, I’m available by phone or email. I offer a no-obligation, no-cost 30 minute informal chat by phone, online or face-to-face. You can ask me any questions and see if I am the right counsellor for you.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you find the support you seek.

Sally is a Family Mediation Practitioner helping and supporting families throughout Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Throughout her career, Sally has seen how parental separation can impact on children when parents who are in conflict cannot work together in moving forward. She has also seen the reverse of this when parents have been willing to adjust to a co-parenting relationship, with children being at the focus and centre of all their decision making.

Sally remains very passionate and enthusiastic about making a difference to children’s lives. She believes that working with children and parents at the earliest opportunity to overcome challenges they face during separation and divorce is a significant way to engage, support and empower parents to come up with their own solutions, build resilience and improve potential outcomes.

Sally advocates listening to children’s views and wishes and giving them an opportunity to have a voice in mediation and so she can offer Child Inclusive Mediation
